Project Serpo has been through rigorous assessment to ensure it meets CPD standards. Our courses have been reviewed against the relevant British A.C.C.R.E.D.I.T.E.D Framework.
Accreditation is done by an independent, third-party evaluation of a conformity assessment body against recognised standards, conveying formal demonstration of its impartiality and competence to carry out specific conformity assessment tasks.
Awarding Organisations
Regulated Qualifications and Accredited CPD Courses are quite different. Qualifications are designed, developed, issued, and certified by Awarding Organisations (AOs) who are regulated by Ofqual, a non-ministerial government department who regulate all qualifications, examinations, and assessments in England.
Once an AO has issued their Qualifications, they are submitted to the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) to see if they meet the necessary criteria and to provide validation that they offer value to employers and learners alike.
How is CPD different?
Continuing Professional Development (CPD), however, is a different model. It is a mechanism designed to assist professionals in tracking and evidencing the ongoing knowledge, skills and experience they have gained throughout their professional career.
CPD Accreditation Body
Project Serpo's CPD Accreditation Body in the UK offer a credible stringent appraisal of CPD activities to ensure they offer true value and are fit for purpose for the individual taking part.
What is meant by the different 'levels' of courses?
The levels indicate complexity and the extent of the content.
In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, there are eight levels of study, and in an academic sense, a level of study reflects the depth of knowledge taught at each stage, as well as the quality of student output expected. The level structure is comparable to the different stages of the education system, and can be broken down as such:
Level 1 – G.C.S.E level (grades D-G, or 3-1)
Level 2 – G.C.S.E level (grades A*-C, or 9-4)
Level 3 – AS and A level
Level 4 – The first year of an undergraduate Degree
Level 5 – The second year of an undergraduate Degree
Level 6 – The third year of an undergraduate Degree
Level 7 – A Master’s Degree
Level 8 – A Doctorate or PhD
Project Serpo courses are offered in Level 3, 4 and 5. Each course have different requirements – usually a mix of prior course qualifications, subjects, or exam grades.
Several of our Level 5 courses get right into a subject that requires prior understanding. Before beginning the Level 5 course, another lower level course may be recommended to learn the basis.
